Saturday & Sunday--the end of our vacation

Saturday
Saturday morning we woke up and Chuck said to me "how would you like to find a bed and breakfast to check into later today for our last night?" We loved the hospitality of our friends, but getting off an air mattress after a week sounded amazing to me! So we headed for a coffee shop with internet and found a great B&B down the coast in Carmel that had a room available. We spent the day back in Half Moon bay drinking coffee, eating italian food, and wandering around before beginning our drive back down the coast to Carmel. It took several hours to make it there, but we got checked into our room, made dinner reservations at a great restaurant, and enjoyed a very relaxing, romantic evening!

Our great bed and breakfast!
It bordered sheep pastures on the back side, which then led down to the oceanOur dinner Saturday night was at a restaurant called The Forge in the Forrest and was a very cool place surrounded by gardens, out door fire places, and heaters to make patio dining possible year round. Our delicious appetizer--a sourdough bread bowl baked with swiss cheese inside, served with sliced apples and a honey-mustard applesauce for dipping both the bread and apples in--oh my word! It was heavenly! For dinner we shared the teriyaki salmon--SO good!Dessert was cheesecake to go, which we enjoyed by the fireplace in our room that night--delicious!Sunday
Sunday morning Chuck attempted to go surfing, but couldn't find a good spot where waves were breaking. While he was gone I enjoyed my coffee and book by the fireplace. We then began our long drive home. We drove down highway 1, down the coast from Carmel to San Luis Obispo. The scenery was breathtaking, but the speedlimit is about 35 for almost 100 miles. So it takes awhile!
